HINGO: Fried Rice Onigiri in Brick Lane (feat. More New Stalls)
I love going to Upmarket in Bricklane London. Although sometimes the quality isn't the best, but I don't care. It's a place where you can get from Lithuanian food all the way to Cantonese snacks. It's just fun and exciting, especially after buying some stuff at the vintage market.

And then, recently I got a DM from Hingo, a brand new onigiri stall who just opened at Brick Lane. I thought the concept was very interesting. So I visited her central kitchen where she makes her onigiri.
And when I tried I knew it was going to loved by all of us. Why?
A Different Kind of Onigiri
So, inside Upmarket in Brick Lane, you’ll find Hingo, one of the most unique onigiri stalls in London. Instead of sticking to the usual fillings, she reimagined the concept entirely. Her signature fried rice onigiri takes inspiration from Chinese fried rice but shapes it into a Japanese rice ball. The first bite caught me off guard, cause it’s comforting, familiar, and yet completely new.

Flavours Worth Trying
Alongside her fried rice, you’ll find flavours like:

- Tuna Mayo with corns
- Mapo Tofu (vegan)
- Teriyaki Chicken
Hingo told me that the most popular one tuna mayo and I could see why cause we do love a good tuna mayo. But I still think her signature is the best.
What Makes It Special
What really sets Hingo apart is the quality. She sources her seaweed from Natural Natural, and her rice is milled fresh, directly from the factory.
You can taste the difference in every bite. And just like Hingo herself, who’s mixed with Australian, Chinese, Irish, and Scottish roots, these onigiri don’t fit neatly into one tradition. They evolve, adapt, and blend cultures into something new.
A Market Full of Surprises
Upmarket itself is buzzing with energy. While Hingo’s stall stood out to me, there are also a few new additions worth noting, like a Thai fruit stand importing everything straight from Thailand.

Also, if you follower their account, you will also get a free sample fruit skewer as well.

And of course, a fried chicken stall drawing in crowds.
